A message from the Festival Administrator
I am writing to you with anticipation as we are now all set for our 2026 festival in October. We are looking forward to bumper entries if the 2025 festival is anything to go by. I am thrilled to report that we had the most entries ever and we were blessed with some amazing performances.
I have had connections with the festival for the whole of my life. My Godmother entered the soprano solo class in the very first festival in 1946 and when I was 8, I entered my first piano solo class and continued performing into adulthood. I have entered pupils and my own children and now although I served on the committee in the past, I have the privilege of being elected administrator.
We have a new board of trustees and an army of willing volunteers without whom we would not be able to run the festival. We are always searching for new and dare I say younger members of the committee so do please contact us if you are interested in volunteering. It helps if you have a musical background but is not entirely necessary.
The syllabus for this year is available now and we have made some changes from previous years. We are keen to grow, develop and offer opportunities for all that are relevant for music making in the current age and looking to the future.
Thank you for your support and we look forward to welcoming you in October.
Best wishes,
Helen Johnson
